Have you ever wondered what it feels like to get a Brazilian wax? Or where to get one done if you’re living in Lagos? Well, we’ve got you covered. This article explores all you need to know from these women’s first-hand experiences.

Brazilian wax involves removing all or most of the hair from the pubic area including around the anus and between the upper thighs. Sounds painful right? Depending on your preference, you can choose to remove all hair in the area or leave a small strip of hair in the front.

For many women, getting a Brazilian wax is a measure of testing their pain tolerance level, others even relish the pain. They religiously get it done for various reasons such as; to look snatched in a bikini, to prepare on getting their backs blown out, or to just feel good about themselves by indulging in some vagina care.

Whatever reason it may be, the procedure requires a whole lot of shebang and mental preparation because one thing that’s certain is, the pain isn’t a walk in the park. Wanna find out if getting a Brazilian wax is worth it? Find out from these women’s experiences.

Mayorkun, 23

I decided to get a wax because I don’t feel comfortable using a shaving cream anymore, and I didn’t like how fast my hair grew. I searched online and found the Henna place and booked an appointment at their Lekki branch. Luckily, they were having sales for their services so I paid N4,850 in total for the wax. I went there, got on the bed and proceeded to lay down.

It was pretty interesting removing my underwear for the wax lady to see but, I didn’t feel uncomfortable about it. She used sugar wax so she put some powder on before starting. Honestly, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I found the pain slightly pleasurable, but it was still painful nonetheless. Although I haven’t been consistent in getting my waxes, I found the second and third experience to be more painful than the first, maybe because of the inconsistency in keeping my appointments but I will definitely recommend getting it. I don’t think I can ever go back to using shaving cream for down there.

Dami, 23

I have always been very hairy. I wanted a smooth vagina, so a friend of mine recommended getting a Brazilian wax at Wax It Lagos. The service was great overall, I got a hard wax and spent about 11k/12k. Since it was my first time, it was very painful. I don’t even know how to describe the pain but I got a numbing cream which made the pain kind of bearable. I felt really sexy afterwards, like I was ready to take on the world. Of course, I will surely try it again. There is no looking back for me from hereon.

Lola, 24

Before I started getting waxes, I either used a shaving stick or veet to remove my pubic hair, but it always resulted in bumps, leaving me with a not-so-pretty vagina. That’s when I decided to try waxing. I got a sugar wax done at Oriki spa and sheesh, the pain was terrible. I bled at some point and it was just awful. After the whole process, my vagina felt sore and now I dread getting a Brazilian wax again. Maybe in the future when I muster the courage to do it again, but I will most likely get it done in another place. By the way, what they say about your first wax experience being the worst wasn’t true in my case. My previous wax experiences were far better than the first one.

Subomi, 22

Before getting my first Brazilian wax, I spoke to some of my friends who wax regularly and they had varying opinions on the pain level. I also did some research to find out the best time of the month to get it done, and I found out I wasn’t meant to go the week before and after my period. I tried to make sure everything was perfect; I exfoliated beforehand because I wanted it to be as less painful as possible. The day finally came, I paid for a numbing cream but omo, I still wasn’t ready for the pain. It was very painful but it is the type of pain you’ll sort of get used to. I got it done at Wax It Lagos and I do recommend doing it.

It’s important to note that there is no pressure to partake in any hair removal activity, be it shaving or waxing. Hair is completely natural and it will always grow on our bodies.
