Chloe Ting is an Australian Youtuber and fitness personality with the energy and fire of a powerhouse! Yes, I mean that. This woman does not get tired!
With the advent of the evil pandemic; COVID-19, the introduction of the lockdown and instruction of social distancing could only point me in the direction of my beloved passion; eating junk food and spending hours on social media.
Chloe Ting appeared on my screen more times than I could count before I started to get curious.
At the time when I did some more research, I seriously started to think “Who does Chloe Ting actually think she is?” “Lose belly fat in 2 weeks?” “Is she as good as everybody attests?” “More importantly, would I have to die?”
Of course, I didn’t peruse for too long as my belly was getting rounder by the second. It so appears that in your 20s your hormones hate you and would do anything to make you look at your body in confusion and astonishment.
And yes, my first day with Chloe Ting was death. Yes, I died.
I actually had to ask again, “where does this woman find her energy!!!?” I would constantly scowl and groan in frustration whenever I heard her say something like “Rest up, (which is 10 seconds btw) we have planks with hip dips. This exercise is really great for the obliques”
Chloe Ting, dear, which Obliques? I’d soon ignore the aches and pains my body was screaming at me because well, my gut was still looking at me in all it’s embarrassing roundness.
Truthfully, The Chloe Ting 2-Week shred program is a great routine to follow, especially if you remain consistent. She breaks it down so easily for you and her words of encouragement spark a revive in you!
Miss Ting’s YouTube page is a goldmine for your fitness journey. She also has free workout programs on her personal blog that show you videos to try out weekly.
I wouldn’t call myself a fitness person, although I do morning stretches and exercises, I am more committed to butt exercises like the famous squats, lunges and donkey kicks. I was however, determined to achieve a very obvious shred in 2 weeks (I don’t know what I was thinking) with Chloe’s shred video.
THE BEGINNING
I’ve mentioned that I died the first day I started Chloe Ting’s 2-week shred plan, but what is worthy of note is that I died and died again after that.
Obviously, I couldn’t stop at just the first day. Remember my mention of determination? Yes, well, I had to see it through. The workout plan states that you do the exercises in 2 or 3 reps for best results. I decided that was a joke and obviously Miss Ting didn’t want me dead.
or did she?
In my first days trying to lose the belly fat I gained during the lockdown, my fitness junkie sister was my workout buddy and my oh my, did she help me get through those sweaty minutes.
I have come to realize that working out with a companion makes things a bit better, emphasis on “bit” because my aching body was all I could think about.
The plan consisted of a few easy routines and plenty difficult ones;
- Leg Raise Clap
- Reverse crunch
- Spider-man plank
- Crossbody mountain climber
- Russian twist (My fav!)
- In & Out
- Plank with Hip dips
- Plank Jacks (SKIP!)
- 100s
- Crunches ( Squeeze those abs guys, you’re more than halfway through, you can do this)
- Up and Down plank
- Plank
- Heel tap
- Bicycle crunch
- Reverse crunch leg extension
- Straight leg crunch
- Up and down plank (Again? YES)
Do you see what I mean? see for yourself, below.
DURING
I’m sure we can all agree that starting something is a feat, but continuing it is a herculean task. After about 5 days my sister would wake up before me, do her routines and leave me hanging.
According to her, I was breaking her flow. Can you imagine? Was this even life?
So there I was, stuck with motivating myself, for myself. Admittedly, it got easier after a long while and surprise surprise! I even started doing 2 reps.
I would look at Chloe’s belly and then look at mine, and the huffing and puffing would begin. My abs must surface by fire!
THE END
I completed my own shred journey in 4 weeks.
Apparently, losing belly fat comprises of other wholesome habits such as healthy diets and regular rest. As a Nigerian, those two things have no serious meaning. Rice almost every week, bread, yam, and of course, swallow. Healthy diet, and regular rest where?
I however tried my best, my diet consisted of mostly wheat bread and plenty vegetables.
Btw, is it just me, or are fruits kind of.. yucky? I do not enjoy eating them, but of course I had to. I also made smoothies on some days because I prefer those.
I did not carry on this ritual for long though, my sweet tooth betrayed me on many occasions but I stuck with green tea. Green tea helps me feel less bloated and really calms me, so as I write this, I’m sipping on my green.
I also reduced my food portions and I find that this is very helpful. Although, I felt faint many times. Dieting is hard.
