21 Magazine is thrilled to announce the official launch of Covergirls, our brand-new book club dedicated to celebrating women, words, and community. On Saturday, July 26, 2025, we gathered at Ouida Bookstore in Lagos for an intimate afternoon of literature, laughter, and connection.

Covergirls is where books meet lifestyle,  a space for women to gather, grow, and geek out over stories that inspire, challenge, and entertain. With fiction, personal growth, and meaningful conversations at its core, the book club promises to be a joyful community where sisterhood thrives.

An Afternoon of Stories and Sisterhood

Guests were welcomed into an atmosphere buzzing with creativity and camaraderie, setting the tone for an enriching literary journey. Together, we dove into our first two book selections:

  • The Re-Write by Lizzie Damilola Blackburn – a witty romantic comedy about second chances and self-discovery.
  • My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite – a sharp, fast-paced dark comedy exploring sisterhood, survival, and Lagos life.

Team members and hosts read aloud and reflected on the opening chapters, sparking thoughtful and lively discussions that will unfold as the club continues its monthly meetings.

Covergirls is a space where books meet lifestyle, a community where women can gather, grow, and geek out over fiction, personal growth, and everything in between.

The event marked the beginning of a fresh literary chapter for 21 Magazine, bringing together young women who love a good story, a good cocktail, and even better company. The launch offered an immersive blend of books, beauty, and bonding, perfectly reflecting the Covergirls’ spirit.
