If you’re reading this, Congratulations! You made it to the end of this year, despite all what 2020 has thrown at you.
With December being the last month before entering a new year, there is no better time to engage in self-reflection. Look back on how your entire year has been. Did you keep to the resolutions you made earlier this year? Were you good to others, and most importantly, yourself? What thing did you do that you absolutely regretted or shrugged off because ‘it is what it is’ ? Answering questions like this is so important to prepare for the coming year in the best way possible.
In the spirit of self-reflection, we asked 15 Nigerians the best, worst (and everything in between) things they did this year and how they feel about it.
1. Imma/25/Female
This year, I gave a portion of my monthly salary to my parents. I bought nice things for my man. I really was generous with money this year, even though I really didn’t have. I prayed for friends more than I prayed for myself.
I didn’t do anything scandalous. Although I blocked a girlfriend that was getting on my nerves.
2. Ruky/21/Female:
I think the nicest thing I did this year was get a phone for my younger brother. The naughtiest thing was definitely me cheating on my boyfriend with both genders.
3. Chika/22/Female:
I got all my friends birthday gifts this year.
4. Tope/20/Female:
The best thing I did this year was pass my professional exams!
5. Michael/25/Male:
One of the best things I did this year was help a cripple get home in my car.
Something bad; I stole a bit of my tenants fuel to put on my generator because it was too late to go out to get fuel.
6. Seyi/21/Male:
I think the kindest thing I did this year was giving my last money out to help clear a friend’s hospital bill.
Something scandalous I did was send nudes for the first time ever.
7. Vanessa/22/Female:
The kindest thing I did this year was for myself. I left my abusive ex.
8. Onyx/19/Female:
This year I made out with a complete stranger.
9. Peter/22/Male:
I lent someone some money for business.
10. Kennedy/22/Male:
I helped someone without clothes and gave him almost half of what I had.
11. Busayo/21/Female:
The best thing I did this year was being there for my friends and family. Something scandalous I did was date 5 guys at the same time and lead them on.
12. Teniola/25/Female:
I would like to think I was a sweetheart this year. As selfish as I planned on being, I still always put my friends and family first. I should definitely be on Santa’s nice list!
13. Bolaji/27/Male:
Omo. I was good this year, but it was also a very confusing year for me. I broke up with my girlfriend of 2 years because she was pressuring me to settle down, as per marriage o. At my baby boy age. Things happen for the best however, as I started dating someone new and I actually see myself settling down. Don’t judge me abeg.
14. Solomon/30/Male:
I turned 30 this year, so I’m thankful for that. Unfortunately, a new age doesn’t always come with new found wisdom. I was very bad this year, but I wouldn’t hold it against myself as this year could have turned anyone mad. I got someone pregnant, and asked that they take it out, which they did.
15. V.O/26/Female:
This year started horribly for me. Thankfully I had good people in my corner so things got better after some time. I guess I was also a bit naughty, I had transactional sex for the first time this year. Do I regret it? no.
