Late last year, Mskin Studios, one of my top favorite Nigerian skincare companies introduced its Phoenix Collection. Following the great success of their Glow Range, which is present on practically everyone’s bathroom shelf, I knew I had to give their new line a try. The Phoenix Collection is all about reviving and restoring dull, dry skin from the ashes, literally.
“The Phoenix Collection takes its inspiration from the mythological Phoenix creature, which stands for rebirth, revitalisation, and renewal. The collection encourages your skin to renew and refresh by slowly shedding your dead unwanted skin cells, digging deep to reveal its true essence and finally encouraging permanent healing.” -Mskin Studios
The dull, dry skin holy grail trio also known as, The Phoenix Collection, features; Phoenix Clay, a bentonite clay mask. Phoenix Healer, a bar soap and Phoenix Essence, a hybrid oil serum. This collection is a must try for the girlies with dull skin who want to give their skin a nice glow or anyone who’s looking to achieve the glazed doughnut look.
Disclaimer: Before we get into the review, I have oily/combination skin which is more on the sensitive side. While I do believe the Phoenix Collection is made up of great products with great ingredients, after trying all three of the products on my skin, I found most of them to be better suited for those with dry skin and not so much for oilier skin types. Without further ado, let’s get into the Phoenix Collection review!

1. Phoenix Dust
I love using various face masks as part of my self-care routine, but I had never tried a clay mask before so I was quite intrigued. I am probably the last person on earth to learn that while using a clay mask, the eyebrow area should be avoided at all cost as they can rip your eyebrows off. Thankfully it did not result in a brow catastrophe.
Activated by water, Phoenix Dust is made up of Bentonite powder, Kaolin clay powder and Activated Charcoal powder. It is an exfoliating clay mask that draws impurities from beneath the skin to reveal brighter and more youthful skin.
Although I consider this to be one of the line’s best products, I do not find myself reaching for Phoenix Dust unless I am sure my skin needs a deeper cleanse. As a personal preference, I love using face masks once a week but with Phoenix Dust, I try to consistently do it once every two weeks and skip any of my topical chemical exfoliants and just stick with hydrating and moisturizing products. The combination leaves my skin feeling soft, supple and noticeably more radiant. I love it because it gives me a clean, fresh base for the rest of my skincare regimen. I just bought a vitamin C serum, and I cannot wait to see how glowy my skin will appear after using it with Phoenix Dust.
2. Phoenix Healer
My love for bar soaps by now is an unpopular opinion in my beauty reviews. They just work for me. I tend to gravitate more towards bar soaps than liquid cleansers because they are more economical and eco-friendly. However, Phoenix Healer was one bar soap I was not too crazy about. In true signature M skin style, the bar soap has two sides to it and is loaded with different oils like olive oil, palm kernel oil, sunflower oil and calming ingredients like Aloe Vera, Matcha and Coconut milk.
Personally, I found the bar soap a little too oily for my already oily skin and it melted very quickly. A good cleanser should not leave your skin feeling tight and stripped. However, with my skin type I do not like the feeling of a film being left behind on my skin after cleansing. Although it did not work for me, I believe the Phoenix Healer will be perfect for you if you have dull, dry skin as it is very moisturizing and oil-packed to give your skin that va-va-voom.
3. Phoenix Essence
Phoenix Essence is the item from the Phoenix Collection that I was most eager to try. Phoenix Essence is a ceramide oil serum that improves your complexion and protects your skin from environmental factors. It contains Olive Squalane Oil which helps to smooth and soften the skin, Black seed oil which can help with skin conditions like eczema and acne, and Grapeseed oil, Jojoba oil, Vitamin E oil and many other star ingredients.
I swear by M skin’s Glow Forever Oil as the last step in my nighttime skincare routine so the Phoenix Essence had some stiff competition. Phoenix Essence has a lightweight texture and a little does go a long way with this product.

My skin looked and felt supple and radiant the morning after using this product. Phoenix Essence does not feel too heavy or greasy on my skin and it is very buildable depending on how lightweight or heavy you want it. This under your foundation if you are going for a dewy look is *chef’s kiss*. Hands down my favorite product in the Phoenix Collection! With summer already upon us (I know we’re in March but whatevs), I would a hundred percent recommend getting this product to get your glow on!
