Friday started bright and early for me, with the usual routine of yoga, meditation, and that essential cup of coffee to kickstart the day. But today held something special on the agenda: the Chivita and Hollandia Lifestyle Brunch. As much as I love a good event, I admit, sometimes I need to psych myself up for the social whirlwind. Yet, duty called, and I was off to get ready.
Opting for a cheerful yellow dress paired with crisp white shoes and a trusty brown bag, I felt the excitement building. With my locs pulled back and adorned with gold jewellery – a newfound love after years of silver obsession – and a spritz of my favourite perfume, I was ready to roll. Oh, and let’s not forget the added confidence boost from my freshly done nails; something about perfectly manicured nails elevates the entire ensemble.
After a bit of a traffic-laden journey from the mainland, I finally arrived at the venue. The entrance greeted me with charming decorations, prompting an immediate impulse to capture the moment on video – purely for personal enjoyment, of course.
Stepping inside, the first stop was the cocktail bar. As an introvert who appreciates a good drink, I found it the perfect spot to ease into the event. While I can’t remember the name of the mixologist, the drink was decent, though a tad milder than my usual preference.
The event started with a delightful painting session, a departure from the typical brunch agenda. It was a creative touch that set the tone for the afternoon’s festivities. As for the “guess the taste” games, they added an element of fun and intrigue, keeping everyone engaged.
The roster of attendees included an array of influencers, some familiar faces and others new to me. The hosts, Uto Rosman and Elo Onam, skillfully navigated the event, encouraging interaction and ensuring everyone felt included—their banter and encouragement to indulge in conversation and cuisine made for a relaxed atmosphere.
As an advocate for women’s empowerment, I took the opportunity to share insights from The 21 Magazine on the importance of fostering a supportive network of women. It was a meaningful exchange amidst the socializing and festive vibe.
One highlight of the day was connecting with Mixologist and Content Creator Oyinademii over our shared journey of locs hair growth. Moments like these make events genuinely memorable – the unexpected connections and shared experiences.
Despite the inevitable hustle of capturing snippets of the event for work purposes, I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The Chivita and Hollandia Lifestyle Brunch was a delightful blend of networking, creativity, and camaraderie. Count me in for the next one – I’ll eagerly await the invite.
