The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) has become more than just a night to celebrate the best in African film and television, it’s a full-blown fashion spectacle.
Every year, its red carpet transforms into a runway of beauty, creative risks, and iconic fashion moments. AMVCA 2025 was no different. From gorgeous showstoppers to looks that didn’t quite hit the spot, this year’s carpet delivered glam and everything in between.
Nigerian designers also showed up and showed out, proving once again that the nation’s fashion industry is a force to be reckoned with. From intricate beadwork to avant-garde structures and breathtaking silhouettes, the craftsmanship was undeniable.
We’ve rounded up the very best and the worst looks of the night:
Best looks:
Jemima Osunde

Jemima Osunde was sculpted to perfection in a stunning metallic creation by Ambaosa. Sleek, striking, and absolutely unforgettable.
Nana Akua Addo

At this point, everyone pretty much holds their breath to see what masterpiece Nana will unveil at the AMVCA red carpet. This year, she served us futuristic celestial Angel, designed by Nigerian designer Jewoola Adenike Racheal.
I’m still not sure how the structure around that dress works—but honestly, when you look this divine, who cares about practicality?”
Toni Tones

One word; stunning!
Erica Nlewedim

The belle of the ball did what needed to be done: she wowed in Lena Berisha, leaving no crumbs on that carpet.
Mercy Eke

Mercy Lambo took Diamond of the Season a little too literally and you know what? Thank God she did! This how you leave them dazzled at the AMVCA.”
Indima Okojie

Indima understood the assignment and then rewrote the syllabus. Serving amazing, iconic, stunning in SomobySomo, she looked like the kind of woman people write songs about.
Michelle

Michelle stepped out looking like a quintessential Disney princess in this dreamy pink gown by 2207. All that’s missing is a tiara and a castle in the background.
Frances Theodore

SLAYED from the top to the bottom of her toes! It’s giving main character energy to the max..
Mercy Aigbe

Mercy’s look, designed by Veekee James, was a welcome burst of creativity as she boldly embedded all the heavenly bodies into the dress. The bead work was absolutely stunning and beautifully executed.
Christie O.

Woah, talk about a goddess on earth! Ethereal, radiant, and every inch a divine vision.
Hawa Magaji

Hawa is absolutely electrifying in this striking blue gown by Omalified. It’s bold and it’s beautiful.
Uche Montana

Her pixie, the scarf, the fiery blue and orange A slay from every angle *chefs kiss*
Nengi

The newest mom in town didn’t come to play. Draped in an all-black custom Oobiuku, she was a vision proving that motherhood and hotness can absolutely coexist.
Laura

This heavily reminds me of Nana’s look from last year’s AMVCA, still she absolutely ate, no doubt about that!
Osas

Osas gave a masterclass on how to carry out a nature theme, effortlessly blending beauty and the wild with elegance. The details on this VeeKee James creation: spot where she used patches of towel and the mushroom detail. Give this sabi girl her flowers!
Nelly

When Tuface sang “African Queen,” we’re convinced he had a vision of Nelly in this regal and stunning Lezie creation.
Sophie Alakija

Sophie Alakija said it best when she captioned her dress designed by Djec Fashion as “when the sun meets the ocean”. What a perfect description for an undeniably stunning look.
Doyin

This would’ve been perfect for a nature–themed costume event, like last year’s met gala. A bold choice, a little bit costumey. But the look is so gorgeous, I think it’s a risk that paid off on this AMVCA red carpet .
Adeola Diademm

Adeola looks absolutely radiant in this butterfly dress by Layo. The whimsical silhouette flatters her perfectly, while the delicate detailing adds a touch of magic. A look that flutters straight into our hearts!
Least favorite looks:
Onyeka Chigbo

What a beautiful woman, no question there. Not entirely sure about the feathery bottom though, it feels a little out of place on an otherwise gorgeous dress.
Liquorose

Love the hair and makeup but the whole look feels a little too reminiscent of cheap wrapping paper—the look was not quite the gift we were hoping for.
Erica’s second look

I didn’t know Erica was into magic tricks, going from a 100 to 0 in a blink of an eye.
Wanni

Wanni’s dress had so much going on at the sleeves and the bottom, but sadly, it just didn’t come together properly. A classic case of too many ideas, not enough harmony.
Beauty Tukura

I don’t know why, but the moment I saw Beauty, chickens came to mind. Some might call it avant-garde, but for me? It’s a hard pass
Faith Morey

The neckpiece, the flowers, the shimmer — it’s a bit too much. I wish this iconic Lagos housewife had toned it down just a notch. Sometimes, less is more.
Papaya Ex

Papaya missed the mark with this look. A true case of “what was she thinking?”
