The Ultimate End of Summer Bucket List

It’s September. What this means is a lot of people are prepping to go back to school and others are slowly saying goodbye to those late nights and are trying to go back to focusing on work before the end-of-year shenanigans begin. It’s time to seize the last precious moments of summer and make them count. The Ultimate End of Summer Bucket List is your passport to savouring the remaining days of this vibrant season. From beach reads to planning the perfect picnic, this curated list is designed to help you bid farewell to summer in style. So, dust off your flip-flops and grab your sunscreen; it’s time to embark on an unforgettable adventure filled with laughter, new experiences, and a sprinkle of nostalgia as we celebrate the waning days of sunshine and warmth.

Why We Need To Do Away With the Concept of a Summer Body

Have A Picnic

The word picnic derives from the 17th-century French word “pique-nique,” a term used to describe a social gathering in which attendees each contributed a portion of food or another useful item. Picnics can be one of the prettiest gatherings out there. They are usually intimate, fun, and relaxing. So set it up. Get your food, a mat, some friends(if you want) and maybe even a book. Whatever works for you. Just have some fun in the sun.

Wear That Outfit

You know that one you’ve been saving for a special day? Well, here it is. Summer is ending and there’s no better time than the present. Every day you’re alive is a special day. Wear that outfit.

Show Some Gratitude

The year is quickly coming to an end and you’re still here, living and breathing. Write down things you’re grateful for. Read it out and set it loose in the universe.

Read a Book at The Beach

Take your favourite beach read and re-read at the beach. You can make it a thing and invite your reading buddies or go alone. Soak up the sun and take a deep breath. Enjoy the weather; Harmattan is fast approaching.

Take a Solo Walk

Walks are so freaking therapeutic, you can’t go wrong with it. They can help clear your head and in some ways help you relax. So plug your ears, blast music so loud you can’t hear anything, choose a safe path and get walking. Note: September is particularly rainy in Nigeria so check that weather forecast before making any moves. However, if you love walking in the rain, have at it!

Write Your Goals

You have about 4 months left in the month. What are those things you would love to do before the year runs out. Put them down. Draw out a plan and get to work girl!

Have Dinner on a Terrace

I can admit. I’m obsessed with rooftops and skyline views; sue me. Hear me out though. The view!! There’s nothing quite like it. Grab a friend or your partner or even go alone. You can go at any time of the day but I think the view at night can be particularly spectacular.

Eat Fresh Fruits and Vegetables While Sipping on Wine

What’s summer without a little wine? Go outside, lay a mat, put out grapes, apples, watermelon, berries, and of course your choice of wine. I’m a white girl but not everyone likes that little sour tang afterwards but if you do, I’ll recommend ‘4th Street’. It’s affordable and it tastes absolutely DIVINE.

Attend a Festival

If festivals are still going on where you live, make sure to attend one before the month runs out! It’ll be your last festival of summer 2023.

Visit a Nearby Town or Take a Road Trip

I have a love-hate relationship with road trips. Alone, they can be awful. Time consumimg, boring, uncomgfortable and in some ways, uncomfortable. However, if you’re doing it with friends or at least people you like, yoiu could end up having the time of your life. So grab a friend, get into a ride anfd just go. You can visit a town just one hour away from where you live or even more. The world is you oyster.
