The Holy Grail in a Bottle? We Asked 5 Nigerian Women to Give Their Honest Verdict on the Topicals Clearly Mist

In the endless battle against breakouts, a new contender has stepped into the ring: The Topicals Clearly Acne Mist, a sleek green, unassuming spray bottle promising to tackle everything from stubborn pimples and blackheads to post-shave irritation. Does it actually work, or is it just another overhyped product fueled by social media buzz?

To cut through the noise, we went directly to the source. We asked five Nigerian women—with different skin types, concerns, and levels of skepticism—to share their unfiltered experiences. From battling sensitive skin and hormonal acne to preventing painful post-waxing bumps, here’s what they really think about the viral acne mist that everyone is talking about.

The Product at a Glance:

Clearly Acne Mist By Topicals

Topicals Faded Mist for Face & Body is a powerful spray designed to minimize pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads, while calming irritated skin.

  • Key Active Ingredient: 2% Salicylic Acid.
  • Other Ingredients: Purified Water, Alcohol Denat, Hypochlorous Acid, Glycolic Acid, Allantoin, Zinc, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Benzoate.
  • Best for: Daily use to control oil, reduce redness, and prevent both facial and body acne.

What Nigerian Women Really Think About Topicals’ Clearly Acne Mist

Chinazam/24/Lagos

I only use it when I have skin breakouts, which isn’t so often. Recently, I used it for a rash on my face, specifically a red pimple that was painful. I decided to try Clearly, though I was a bit reluctant to use it because it had salicylic acid and I avoid using things that have salicylic acid, and benzoate because they are very harsh for sensitive skin like mine. Any small thing, my skin weakens.

Still, I turned out having a rather positive experience with the product. I love that you don’t have to use it for a long time which is the problem I had with the mist having salicylic acid—if I use it for a prolonged time period, it will weaken my skin barrier. I used clearly for entirely 4 days and the spot was entirely gone. The first time I used it, the redness of the pimple reduced. By the second day, there was no redness at all, and by the fourth day, the pimple had completely disappeared. It worked out well despite its harsh, or rather, extreme ingredients.

Joy/24/Abuja

The clearly acne mist is the holy grail when it comes to clearing my recurrent breakouts. To think that my first use of Clearly came from stealing my sister’s bottle. I hate that for myself now because it works like magic, and I have no choice but to be shelling N53,000 on my own bottle. I will spray it like 2 times a day, and wake up to flattened pimples.I am even thinking of getting the Clearly Mask, that’s how obssessed I am.

Rory/25/Abuja

I had my bias about Topicals—their product will work oh, but it will take time. And that didn’t make sense to me because these products will have all the desired active ingredients, yet, still work so slowly.

When I saw that they released the Clearly Mist with Salicylic acid, I was like, ‘Here we go again.’ But a friend of mine convinced me to get it because it apparently cleared her pimples in less than a day. It cleared mine faster than I expected, but saying less than a day, like my friend swears by, will be a stretch.

Peace/26/ Lagos

Up until early this year, I completely stopped waxing and shaving because what immediately followed was ingrown hairs and painful bumps that eventually left scars. When I decided to give waxing a last try, I came prepared with a bottle of the mist. Someone online had spoken about how it got rid of her pimples overnight, so I said why not. Post-wax, it was noticeable how the skin calmed down. Also, a few days after waxing, there was minimal itchiness and bumps. And when I sprayed it on my waxed area some more, I didn’t have to deal with my usual bumps from ingrown hairs.

Temi/21/Lagos

My friend teased me the other day that she would call Topicals to pay me for advertisement because I talk about the brand so much. Its Clearly Acne Mist is excellent. I spray 2-3 times a day and my skin clears within hours. I love how it doesn’t feel harsh or heavy on my skin or sticky, because no matter how effective a product might be, if it feels weird on my oily skin, I just can’t use it.
