Reviews: The Must Have Eyeshadow Palettes For All Your ‘Detty December’ Looks

Your fairy plug mother is back with yet another beauty review that will have you turning heads this December and all year round. Now, I am no makeup guru but after watching several Youtube makeup tutorials, I have come to the realization that finding the perfect eyeshadow palette with the right amount of pigment, minimal to no fall out, amazing colour selection with affordable pricing that looks great on melanated skin, is like looking for love during Detty December. A girl can dream right? When Honey Beauty popped up on my radar I was excited to try their eyeshadow palettes and eye products out. Oh yes, I won’t forget to mention that their beautiful packaging was literally calling out my name!

With December and the enjoyment it brings approaching, I can tell you it is not too late to start planning your makeup as well as outfits for all the events you have lined up to attend. I know made in Nigeria skincare products to be tried and true. However, this is my first time trying a Nigerian makeup brand and I can tell you, Honey Beauty did not disappoint! It is safe to say their eyeshadow palettes are the perfect product for all your December in Lagos moves or Detty December festivities. It is also safe to say you can confidently make it your trusted brand.

For those who don’t know, Honey Beauty is a Nigerian-owned makeup brand. They specialize in all things that pertain to eye makeup. Their luscious products include their vibrant eyeshadow palettes, their volumizing mascara and eyebrow pencils. I could not contain my joy when my Honey Beauty makeup products first arrived.

I tried on the Dami Set from Honey Beauty, and I’ll be sharing my review of the products along with everything I loved about it.

First Things First, It’s Always A Yes To Pretty Packaging!

If the packaging is cute and looks pretty in my bathroom or makeup bag, it is an automatic yes for me. Right from Honey Beauty’s Instagram, it is apparent great thought and effort went into creating such aesthetically pleasing packaging for all their products. What’s more, they look even better physically.

Right from when you open your Honey Beauty box, the brand snapped with every detail, from the cute note I just had to include in this review to the instruction card on details of each product. Everything is up to standard. With Honey Beauty makeup, you not only get fire makeup products but it is delivered with service that will leave you wanting more.

First Impressions And Swatches

Honey Beauty Eyeshadow Palettes

The ‘Honey Plum’ Eyeshadow Palette: A good purple/berry eyeshadow palette is an essential eye makeup product I believe every girl should have in their beauty bag, especially if you are a dark skinned girl like me. However, I have noticed a lot of purple eyeshadow colours tend to show up very grey and dull on darker skin tones but I found the colours on the ‘Honey Plum’ palette to show up nicely on my skin tone. Honey Beauty is very particular about ensuring their makeup is black girl friendly which is something we do not see much of from the beauty industry. And this is why I keep saying support Nigerian beauty brands!

The eighteen shade ‘Honey Plum’ eyeshadow palette by Honey Beauty shows up vibrantly and has the perfect balance between shimmery and matte shades making it perfect for all your day and night time looks this holiday.

The ‘Sweet Honey’ Eyeshadow Palette: As much as I love the ‘Honey Plum’ Palette, The ‘Sweet Honey’ Palette stole my heart. It is so beautiful! It ranges from yellow tones, to orange, sunset red and a few browns to balance out this vibrant palette. It reminds me of a pretty sunset while on vacation or the sun receding at the beach. I tend to be wary of yellow eyeshadows because they show up almost non-existent on my skin tone but the heavy pigment of this palette did not disappoint and really looks so good after application. However, I noticed the matte shades in the ‘Sweet Honey’ palette did not show up as brightly as I would have liked due to my complexion so I had to apply about three layers of eyeshadow to really get the colour popping, but I have no doubt it will take less applications to get the vibrancy of the colours to come through on lighter skin tones.

‘Sweet Honey’ is a fiery, sunset inspired eyeshadow palette and is perfect if you are looking to add a pop of colour to your makeup. You can also have it toned down for an everyday look. Whether you are going for a glam beach day look, or are just looking to stand out with your makeup on a night out this holiday season, the ‘Sweet Honey’ palette has got you covered.

Let’s Talk Versatility

At first glance, both the ‘Honey Plum’ and ‘Sweet Honey’ eyeshadow palettes look very dramatic with their bright colours but upon application, I found that they can be used for both dramatic, soft glam and everyday minimal eye look. The palettes have strong and vibrant colors to play around with depending on the look you are going for. They are versatile enough for you to switch up your look from day time to night time effortlessly thereby making these eyeshadow palettes perfect for any occasion this holiday season.

What’s Eyeshadow Without Eyebrows And Lashes?

Can you say your eye makeup look is complete without your eyebrows and lashes being on point? To top off the Honey Beauty experience, they created eyebrow pencils and a volumizing mascara which I am obsessed with. The Honey Beauty volumizing mascara is perfect for people with either longer or shorter eyelashes.

I noticed it elongates your lashes as well as makes them look darker and thicker, thanks to its volumizing effect. The brow pencil is perfect if you are someone who prefers a natural feathered brow but it can also be used for a more dramatic and clean cut brow look. It all depends on your technique and how you use it. The brow pencils and volumizing mascara go perfectly with your Honey Beauty eyeshadow looks although they can also be used alone if you prefer ‘no makeup’ looks.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I am very pleased and impressed with the quality of these products and will a hundred percent recommend you give them a try. Honey Beauty really came through with their first drop and I am excited to see what else they have in store for the Nigerian market as they take the Nigerian makeup industry by storm one colourful, yet versatile eyeshadow palette at a time.
