There is one thing that is sure to always get me excited, and that’s spending quality time with my girlfriends. For once ladies, leave your boyfriends, side pieces, family members at home and go out with your friends to enjoy a couple of good laughs, drinks, food as well as the benefit and blessing of good friendships! This should however be done according to the COVID-19 guidelines of course. Nobody should put themselves at risk of getting arrested or worse, Coronavirus *in Cardi B’s voice*.
Thanks to Sex and The City, getting dressed and putting on my mules for a night out in little Lagos makes me feel like Carrie Bradshaw looking for my Mr Big. I cannot seem to place my finger on it but there is just something magical about nighttime and watching the city lights pass you by from your Uber. Enough of my fantasizing! I did some research due to COVID-19 restrictions and put together six fun things that you and your girlfriends can do to have a magical night in town.
See A Late Night Movie
I am convinced you can not go wrong with a late-night movie. It is bound to generate laughter, tears and maybe even both depending on the film. If you and your homegirls are home buddies, going to see a movie in an empty theatre late at night is just right for you, and besides who does not love movie snacks?
Plan A Games Night Together
This is a very slept on but fun option if you and your girls are looking to scream at the top of your lungs and laugh your hearts out. What better way to ignite the competitive fire than enjoying a games night with your girl gang? Rufus and Bee is currently the only adult friendly arcade in Lagos I am aware of, and plus they have a bowling alley! Rally up your girlfriends, get those air forces on and get ready to engage your inner child.
Chit Chat Over Drinks At A Cute Bar
This is simultaneously my favorite and least favorite on the list because I am extremely light weight, but if you and your girls know how to hold your liquor then by all means ride on! But seriously, there is something so intimate and wholesome about sitting down with your girlfriends and opening up about life over Sherry temples and a few margaritas.
Go Dancing With A Live Band
I am ashamed to say I did not know this was a thing until very recently. Who said you must wait until the next Owambe to dance to some highlife fuji music? Grab your girlfriends and head over to Calabash Bar at Eko Hotel or Bogobiri in Ikoyi to dance the night away. Before the curfew of course!
Late Night Beach Vibes
One of my favorite places to go, to have a relaxing time, is Moist beach club in Oniru. It really just exudes good vibes. Whether you want to go during the day or at night, you’re bound to have a good time either way. There always seems to be something going on there. Top it off with a cute two-piece swim set, along with a cute beach dress and boom! I bet you and your girls will have yourselves a night to remember. What is not to love about late night ocean vibes?
Dinner Date
Just like a late night movie, you can never go wrong with a dinner date. If you and your girlfriends prefer a quiet night out, then a dinner date at a cozy and cute restaurant will do the trick. Fortunately, it almost appears a new restaurant opens in Lagos on a regular basis thereby providing you and your girls a wide variety to choose from. Whatever your pick, ensure the food is absolutely delicious, and the environment and ambience is beautiful and cozy, and you are well on your way to having a great girls night out.
Night life in Lagos is very much a vibe and who better to enjoy it with than your trusted girlfriends? Whether it is rushing out of the door together with one high heel in hand because your Uber has been waiting for over fifteen minutes, or dancing to your favorite Nigerian artistes while doing your makeup. However you may want to look at it, time spent with your girlfriends is time well spent.
